“You cannot find yourself, only create yourself.”
~ Anne B. Sekel ~
I love to read quotes. I find them inspiring in life, in writing , in my weight loss challenge. The best thing about them is that anyone who reads them , can take them and apply them to whatever it is they’re struggling with.
Like this one from Helen Keller:
Character cannot be developed in ease & quiet. Only through experience of trial & suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, & success achieved”
Now, I don’t hink she was talking about writing, but it can certainly apply to it. We authors like to joke about how our characters take over out minds, and sometienms it’s fun to torture them. We laugh about it because we know they’ll have a happy ending. But in life, we don’t always know there will be a happy ending. Yet, the quote is inspirting in life too. To me anyway.

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.

We come to love not by finding a perfect person,
but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly

Growing up, I was fascinated with Helen Keller. Read everything on her that I could get my hands on. (But I never visited her birthplace, which isn’t that far from where I lived–go figure!). Can you imagine what she overcame? But I think Annie Sullivan was the most amazig of the two. Anywho, I agree totally that the struggle is what makes the end result strong and pure, like steel being forged in the fires. If something, such as writing a book, were easy, then everyone would be doing it.
As for a quote, here’s a cool one, which came in one of my daily Edgar Cayce emails: “No fault, no hurt comes to self save that thou hast created in thine consciousness, in thine inner self, the cause.”

I love this one….
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming—“WOW! What a ride!”
