Okay, hands in the air, who’s ready for Christmas? (Or Hanukkah–which is already underway! or other holidays you practice) Not me, I sadly report. The small artificial tree I finally gave up and bought a couple years ago is upside down ( not the fashionable way) –after I dragged it down from the upstairs closet, in the living room floor, but not yet trimmed. I did venture into the garage and located the Christmas wreath, stuck it on the front door in place of the harvest wreath that had been there since before Halloween and put that back into the garage–total time expended, about twenty seconds–and it took me two weeks to get that done!
Hopeless. I knew when I scheduled a deadline in Jan how it would be, but that’s how it works sometimes. Christmas cards are beyond hope, and I usually twine ivy around the banisters–my favorite–and put other decorations here and there around the house, on the mantel, etc, but that’s out… I am cooking a turkey on Christmas eve, when the family gathers at my house, and I have precious grandchildren to enjoy, and that, by humbug, will happen. . . as some things do trump even a deadline!

Hey Nicole—you gotta do what you gotta do. Some things have to go by the wayside to get more imprtant things(writing) done!

Nicole, I totally understand where you’re coming from. Even with the grandchildren topping the deadline. This is the first year that I’m not on a January deadline in maybe 7 years, and I’m so thrilled to be able to enjoy the season again.
The fact is, as I’ve learned, Christmas will come and go but deadlines are forever … if we’re lucky.
I wish you Merry Writing, Brilliant Words, Quality time with the grandchildren, and an awesome book at the end of it all … which is a given. Ho, ho, humbug, ho!

LOL Nicole
My tree isn’t up heck I haven’t ventured to the basement at all. Cards I can’t find, haven’t baked at all and am having Christmas at my house with part of the family Friday. Thursday I have to drive 250 miles to pick up my middle daughter and I haven’t even cleaned. But most of the bought presents are wrapped. Happy Holidays

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone! Grandchildren aside, the deadline has to be met–I hope! But yes, little ones do make Christmas special, and they grow all too fast… as we were saying about favorite things recently, the grandtots and the books–high on the list!
holiday hugs to all!

I decorated the house the day after Thanksgiving, sent out Christmas cards the first week of December and waited until last weekend to start shopping. Ugh! I still have a few more things to buy…and hope to finish it up in the next two days.
Now I’m looking forward to 07′ and making goals.
