Tonight I’m reading a book that I’ve been saving up for ages because I knew it would be good. And it definitely is. I’m itching to get back to it already.
For me, it’s worth waiting for uninterrupted reading time with something I know will be good. Not only can I just wallow in the book (I really like reading from start to finish in one go), but it’s comforting to know that that time will be well spent, that the book will deliver. I have several authors who I trust to provide great reads and I do save up their books for those precious continuous reading hours.
I’m curious - do any of you "save up" good reads?
(By the way, in case you’re wondering - I’m no model of constant restraint - lots of times I cave and immediately gobble up an anticipated book, though man, reading only a bit at a time is tough!).

I have absolutely no constraint when it comes to a book I really want to read. As soon as I have it in my hot little hands I have to dive right in. I definitely prefer to read it in one sitting, even if it means I stay up until 2-3 in the morning to finish it.
I hate to admit it, but I have 3 piles of books:
Must reads - pile is usually small or non-existent as they are usually books that I have been eagerly awaiting.
Library books - The number of books I get out each week/fortnight depends on whether or not I am expecting any must reads to arrive. I tend to take my time with library books - but if I can’t get into a book then it goes straight back.
My TBR pile - this pile currently has 35 books in it. These are books that I’ve bought, but will get around to reading when I am in the mood. For some reason the pile just seems to keep getting bigger - must start reading some of them soon!

I rarely wait long to start a book I really want to read. I’ve already waited to get my hands on it, haven’t I? So no saving the good stuff. There’s always re-reading…
But I’m not always in the mood for a certain kind of book (eg. a historical romance). So I’ll wait till the mood strikes me. Not that it’s really what you were asking about… but it explains why I can complain “I’ve got nothing to read” when I have books I haven’t read yet. lol

I have JR Ward’s Lover Revealed on hold–I devoured the first three books within a week and started to read the first chapter of the last book, but decided to keep it until next week..vacation..it is killing me…

I think, for me, it’s more a case of loving to read in chunks. So I force myself to wait. Not that it always works!

I wish I had that kind of time to read a book in one sitting, but with kids,I barely get a couple chapters in before someone needs me to do something. There are some authors that I have lost sleep over, but cranky mommy only comes out once in a while.

It’s hard to find time to read when you’re on deadline, but I’m reading Madelyn Alt’s delightful, A Charmed Death, right now and waiting in the wings is Yasmine Galenorn’s Witchling. Reading is how I reward myself for getting my writing done, so I usually nibble at a book and every time I remember that it’s waiting for me at the end of the day.

I forgot to write I SMILE every time I remember that it’s waiting for me. I SMILE. I SMILE . . . knowing a great book is waiting.
