Series or Singles?

[The Berkley Babes, Nalini Singh] — Nalini Singh @ 6:00 am

I have to admit, I luuuuurve reading (and writing) series. I like seeing favorite characters return and/or develop, love getting glimpses into their life post Happy Ever After, maybe see how things are going in a new chapter of their lives.

So right now, I’m a happy camper -there are lots of wonderful series around at present. But I know not everyone likes series. What about you guys? Which do you like - series or singles? Why?

  1. I prefer singles. Don’t ask me why, because I don’t know. That’s just the way my brain works, I guess.

  2. I love series. I love revisiting a world I am already familiar with and seeing characters from other books and seeing what they are doing now. That is great for me.

  3. I love series, you get to get to know more about secondary characters from previous books and sometimes the characters from the first book make special appearances and we get to see what they’re up to.

  4. I absolutely love series, because it’s great to visit the characters again and see what happened with them. The secondary characters get also their chance for a own story

  5. I’m a big fan of both series and singles. I do like that a book stands on its own, so that if I haven’t read all of the others I can still follow everything — and as a writer, I love revisiting the earlier characters, and seeing events and their personalities through another character’s eyes.

  6. I think the series fans are definitely outnumbering the singles’ so far!! I think also, that part of the appeal of series is that the story doesn’t end. Often, with a really good book, I want the story to continue and a series allows that.
